The US Bureau of Democracy, human rights and labour has openly condemned the actions of Department of State Service (DSS) for violently re-arresting Journalist and Human rights activist, Omoyele Sowore barely 12 hours after he was released on bail.
Buhari supporter turned Critique, Sowore has been battling for his freedom ever since he instigated #RevolutionNow – a protest against the governance of President Muhammadu Buhari.
He has been in the detention of the DSS since Aug 3 2019. Eventually, he was released on Dec 6, 2019 after DSS defied court orders to release on two different occasions. Oct 4, 2019 and Nov 24 , 2019
However, armed operatives of the DSS invaded the court the following day to secure Sowore’s re-arrest.
This unconstitutional action has attracted global attention including that of US Senator Bob Menendez of New Jersey.

The US Department of state through US Bureau of Democracy, human rights and labour has also reacted to the injustice, as they lend their voice to demand the freedom of the Convener of #RevolutionNow.
In a Twitter post, the US department wrote;
“We are deeply concerned that #Sowore has been re-detained in #Nigeria, after a court ordered he be released on bail.
Respect for rule of law, judicial independence, political and media freedom and due process are key tenets of #democracy”
