United States First lady, Melania Trump will be receiving about $2.9 million in damages and costs from British tabloid, Daily Mail after publishing a story alleging that the former model had been an escort in the 1990s.

We reported last year that the First Lady had filed a joint $150 million libel suit against the tabloid for the publication which questioned Melania’s past romantic relationships and her modeling career.

They stated that the modeling agency she worked for doubled as an escort service.

Today, the Daily Mail and mail online released an apology on their site, agreeing to pay the damages

“We Accept That These Allegations About Mrs. Trump Are Not True And We Retract And Withdraw Them. We Apologize To Mrs. Trump For Any Distress That Our Publication Caused Her to Settle Mrs. Trump’s Two Lawsuits Against Us, We Have Agreed To Pay Her Damages And Costs.

Several other media outlets have also reportedly retracted and apologized for repeating the Daily Mail’s claims.
