US Rapper DDG Plans to Buy House in Nigeria Amid Custody Battle with Halle Bailey

American rapper and YouTuber Darryl Dwayne Granberry Jr., popularly known as DDG, has revealed plans to purchase a house in Lagos, Nigeria, as his custody dispute with ex-girlfriend Halle Bailey continues.
The rapper made the announcement via his X (formerly Twitter) account on Friday, writing: “Finna buy a house in Lagos, Nigeria. What’s a good area?” This comes months after he first expressed interest in relocating to Nigeria, citing dissatisfaction with life in the United States.

The development coincides with the rapper’s ongoing legal battle with actress and singer Halle Bailey, with whom he shares a child. In a recent update, DDG’s legal team refuted circulating reports that a court had denied him a temporary restraining order (TRO) against Bailey.
According to a statement from his attorney, the court in fact granted the TRO, “based on the serious allegations set forth in his application.” The lawyer also noted that the broader custody matters are still being addressed: “Custody-related issues remain pending and are subject to a full evidentiary hearing, where both parties will have the opportunity to present their claims and defenses.”
DDG’s announcement has sparked conversations online, with many speculating about his intentions and what it means for his future ties to Nigeria.
