Leader of Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu has come under intense attack for using London-based Radio Biafra to blackmail and hurl insults at Igbo leaders and elders.

Founder,  Biafra Independence Movement (BIM) and Movement for Actualisation of Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB), Chief Ralph Uwazuruike, said that Kanu’s actions were a setback to the struggle to achieve an independent nation for Ndigbo.

In a Saturday statement signed by his Special Assistant on Social Media Matters, Comrade Emma N. Nnadi, Uwazuruike identified some of those being blackmailed as  “our elder  statesmen like Chief Pete Edochie, Nnia Nwodo, Church and Muslim leaders in the country.”

He disclosed that he employed Kanu in 2009 as a director in the radio station to help propagate the message of Biafra all over the world.

However, he admitted that Kanu has done some good works in helping him (Uwazuruike) take the Biafra message global with the materials at his disposal.

He maintained that he deserved to take the credit for success recorded so far since he was the one who opened the Radio Biafra, London and employed Kanu to take the message to the world.

“So, what Nnamdi Kanu is doing today was the same thing I wanted him to do ab initio, but not to insult and blackmail our respected  elders,” he said.

He, therefore, apologised to all that have been insulted, abused and blackmailed by Radio Biafra or any other Biafra news channels anywhere in the world.

The BIM leader stressed that everyone agitating for the actualisation of Biafra today was trained by him at one time or the other.
