Valencia Coach Heaps Praises on Sadiq

Valencia coach Carlos Corberan praised Super Eagles striker Sadiq Umar, who led the team to a 2-1 win over Valladolid on Saturday. In the absence of preferred striker Hugo Duro, Sadiq rose to the occasion, restoring Valencia’s lead with a sublime finish 13 minutes into the second half. This win moved Valencia up to 16th place with 27 points, one point above the relegation zone.

Coach Corberan expressed his satisfaction with Sadiq’s performance and mentality, noting that Sadiq exemplified the game’s spirit and resilience. Corberan’s confidence in Sadiq, along with other forwards Hugo and Rafa Mir, reflects the team’s strong attacking options.

Sadiq joined Valencia on loan from Real Sociedad in January and his recent form may secure him a permanent move. With four goals in his last four LaLiga games, the 28-year-old is making a strong case for his inclusion in Nigeria’s final 23-man list for the 2026 World Cup qualifiers against Rwanda and Zimbabwe later this month.
