Valentine is known as the season of showing love to people around you. Putting smiles on someone’s face with a gift or act of kindness.
This is the thought of Bethia Idoko who celebrates her birthday every year at Little saints orphanage in Akowonjo area of Lagos state. Bethia is the Public Relations Expert for popular media agency, GidiTraffic.
Gidi traffic has been organising valentine’s parties at Little Saints orphanage for the past 10 years. The children have become accustomed to the wonderful celebration, February 14 has become one of their favourite days of the year.
However, this year’s Valentine was a whole new level. Bethia and friends surprised the children with foods, snacks and drinks of all kinds.
Snacks and drinks ranging from Cotton candy, Pizza, smoothie, small chops, milk shakes, soft drinks and so on. There may have been a queue at the children’s restroom later that evening.
The fun and games had the children running around in circles giggling and laughing happily. The games were so exciting, adults could not resist the temptation of joining in the fun.
There was a watergun fight with children and adults shooting at each other at the same time, trying to dodge water bullets. Needless to say, no one escaped as both adults and children got shot and became very wet.
Dance competition was a tough one. Who would have thought those little humans had such great steps? They made the likes of Burna boy and Zlatan’s legwork look like a huge joke… I mean! You should have seen those digging it on the dance floor. Adults could not join in this fun, seeing little saints dance, they knew they didn’t stand a chance at winning, so why bother?
That Bethia Idoko engages in this act of corporate social responsibility is commendable and worthy of emulation.
