Video: Buhari threatens ballot box snatchers with death sentence

During the APC caucus meeting today in Abuja, president Buhari stated that those who are caught in the act of stealing ballot boxes during the upcoming elections will lose their lives as punishment.

He made the statement as he addressed the top ranking members of the party who were present at the meeting. He further stressed that he has given strict order to security agencies to treat anyone who attempts such an act without any form of sympathy. He also stated that security forces on duty should ensure that they halt any form of recklessness with proper sanctions.

He explained, “  I have briefed the law enforcement agencies. They have identified hotspots and flashpoints. They too should be prepared to move. They too must have made their arrangements as much as possible.

Anybody that decides to snatch boxes or lead thugs to the polling units may be the last unlawful action he will take.

I have told the military and the police to be ruthless. We are not going to be blamed that we want to rig elections. I want Nigerians to be respected. Let them go to wherever they want across the parties. I am not afraid. I have gone to the 36 states and Abuja. I think I have gotten enough support across the country to look after me.

I am going to warn anybody who thinks he has enough influence in his own locality to lead a body of thugs to snatch boxes or to disturb the voting system, he will do it at the expense of his own life.”
