Video: I Do Free Shows For Nigerians, Sometimes I Charge N1,000 – Wizkid Claims

Nigerian singer, Wizkid born Ayodeji Ibrahim Balogun has claimed he sometimes does free shows in Nigeria adding that he sometimes collects as low as N1,000 for his performance.

The 26-year-old singer who has left Nigerians wondering why he would make such claims noted this while promoting his ‘Come Closer’ single in the US.

The singer during his media tour visited DJ Semtex, an English disc jockey and presenter for BBC Radio 1Xtra digital radio station where he talked at lenght about his single, Ojuelegba, showed off his accent and noted that he was getting better at it.

The singer during the interview further noted that he is loved by Nigerians adding that he tries to reciprocate the love by claiming he does a lot for Nigerians back home.

He said during the video at the 9-minute mark: “Nigerians are everywhere in the world, we are hustlers, so you know the Nigerians definitely love me,” Wizkid starts off his lie, with some truth.

“Everywhere they go, they will tell you. Nigerians love me, and I love them too much. I will do anything for my Nigerian people man.

He added: “Big shout to my Naija people. I love them too much. That’s why I do a lot back home. Sometimes I do free shows. I just pull up and say ‘Hey, Wizkid, free show.’ Sometimes I charge like a dollar for a show, sometimes I take like N1000, sometimes when I do shows at the Fela shrine, back with Femi (Kuti) and all that.”
