A lion in a zoo in Manila, the capital of Philippines, went into what is believed to be hunger-induced seizure over the weekend.
In a video that has now gone viral, Raffy the Lion, as the animal is called, is seen on the ground shaking vigoriously.
Visitors said the four-year-old Raffy and other lions and lionesses in the zoo looked “malnourished”.
“The lions in the zoo appeared malnourished. The animal in the video was having a seizure. I think that the zoo really needs to look into this a lot more.
“I know that volunteers do check ups once a week on animals but it is not enough so I do hope that the management of Manila Zoo will further improve in the future,” Daily Mail quoted a visitor, Mark Lee, as saying.

However, zoo officials said that the lion has recovered from the seizure and an investigation has commenced into the matter.
“Right now, Raffy is okay. We did not see any problems with him today. He has a normal appetite so far.
“We started a medical diary to note changes in the lion’s appetite and behavior as a first step,” Heinrich Patrick Peña Domingo, officer-in-charge of the Manila Zoo Zoological Division, said.
