Vinicius Jr Faces Potential Two-Year Ban Over Alleged Conflict of Interest

Real Madrid star Vinicius Jr could be facing a two-year suspension from football following an ongoing investigation by FIFA into a possible conflict of interest.

According to Spanish outlet MARCA, the Brazilian forward is under scrutiny for allegedly breaching FIFA’s ethics rules by owning stakes in multiple professional football clubs—an action prohibited under the governing body’s regulations.

The investigation stems from Vinicius’ reported involvement with his father’s company, ALL Agenciamento Esportivo, which is linked to ownership stakes in clubs including Brazil’s Athletic Club de São João del Rei and Portugal’s Alverca FC. FIFA rules prohibit active players from having direct or indirect ownership of football clubs to avoid potential conflicts of interest.

The issue came to light after Brazilian company Tiberis Holding do Brasil filed an official complaint with FIFA’s Ethics Committee on April 7, citing violations of both FIFA’s Article 20 and Spain’s Article 22 concerning football ethics.

If found guilty, the 24-year-old winger—who has scored 105 goals and provided 79 assists in 311 appearances for Real Madrid—could be forced to divest his ownership in the clubs. He also faces the possibility of a ban from professional football for up to two years.

While FIFA has yet to issue an official statement on the matter, the case raises serious questions about player involvement in club ownership and the broader implications for football governance.
