WAFU Cup Final: Ghana humiliates Nigeria in 4-1 defeat

Tournament hosts, Ghana put up a brilliant performance on Sunday to secure the WAFU cup title in a 4-1 thrashing of the Super Eagles of Nigeria.

The Black Stars of Ghana must have been looking forward to revenge after the Eagles defeated them in the final game of the group stage.

The hosts didn’t fail to bring the Super Eagles to their knees with a humbling 4-1 defeat at the final of the 2017 WAFU Cup of Nations.

After a remarkable defensive run of 5 clean sheets in the competition, the Nigerian Goalkeeper Ikechukwu Ezenwa was beaten four times; twice from the spot.

The Ghanaians were in complete control of the game from its onset, Man-of-the-match, Sarfo knocked in the opening goal in the 44th minute.

Sarfo and Atinga both scored from the penalty spot while Cobbina slotted in the 4th goal following an error from Ezenwa.

Rabiu Ali pulled back a consolation goal with a well-placed free-kick in stoppage time to reduce the goal deficit.

Ghana claimed  $100,000 for their efforts in the competition.
