War On Terror: Army Kills 40 BH Insurgents, Destroys Weapons Factory

A combined team of Nigeria Army and Airforce troops have launched a major offensive on Boko Haram insurgents, killing at least 40 and destroying their fabricated rocket-making factory, a Nigeria Army statement said.

This was reportedly achieved after a direct hit by troops on Boko Haram camps and the factory, as well as foiling an attack aimed at hampering troop movement.

In a statement signed by the Acting Director of Army Public Relations, Col. Sani Usman, the Army said: “as part of series of successes being recorded by the Nigerian Army in the fight against the Boko Haram terrorists, advancing troops of 154 Task Force Battalion of 29 Task Force Brigade, yesterday cleared Boko Haram terrorists camp at Matali, Damboa Local Government Area of Borno State.

“During the operation quite a number of terrorists were killed and some weapons and Improvised Explosive making Devices, IEDs were recovered.”

According to Usman, “In the early hours of Monday morning, the Boko Haram terrorists made spirited attempt to attack troop’s location using 3 VB IED’S at Mada which was successfully repelled.

“During the attack which was meant to thwart the troop’s advancement, 26 terrorists were killed while 3 soldiers sustained injuries.

“In addition, the troops recovered 1 VB IED loaded with IED material, 2 AK-47, 111 rounds of 7.62mm (NATO) and 2 RPG bombs.”
