President Muhammadu Buhari on Wednesday assured Nigerians that his administration was winning the war against the Boko Haram insurgency despite pockets of attacks against soft targets by the terrorists.

He said this while meeting the Nigerian community in India, where he is attending the third session of the India-Africa Summit holding in New Delhi from October 26-30.

Buhari equally said his administration was on a mission to recover all stolen funds by corrupt public officials, both past and present, while hinting the Nigerian community of his administration’s plot to curb corruption by plugging loopholes in public sector and also ensuring accountability at all times.

Furthermore, he said he was confident that the recoveries and prosecution will serve as a deterrent to others who were nursing the ambition for seeking public office for personal gains.

The President told members of the Nigerian community in India that he was fully aware of the expectants of Nigerians who elected him on the platform of change, integrity and accountability and he is therefore doing his utmost to meet those expectations.

“I wish to assure you that we shall do our best to fix the economy and create jobs for the teeming population of our youths and also to make the home environment safe, secure and more attractive to Nigerians.

“On the economy, our aim is to address the challenge of infrastructure in all its ramifications, especially power and transportation.

“We are seeking to create jobs through agriculture, mining, industrial value-addition and the promotion of small scale enterprises.

“We are also taking steps to address criminality across d country. We are tackling the menace of terrorism posed by Boko Haram head on.

“Though sporadic attacks on soft targets have not stopped, the over-all capacity of Boko Haram to hold territory and determine the course of the conflict has been severely degraded,” he stressed.

President Buhari also engaged in an interactive session with chief executives of Indian companies with interests in the Nigerian economy.
