The Senate President, Abubakar Bukola Saraki has stood his ground stating that the upper legislative chamber of the National Assembly will not be intimidated in the discharge of its constitutional duties.

The Senate president made the remark at the end of a closed-door meeting held by the Senate on Tuesday before plenary.

Saraki while speaking at the end of the meeting revealed that lawmakers trashed out at lenght issues bordering on the National Assembly’s integrity.

He said: “We cannot be intimidated from carrying out our constitutional duties at all times.

“Nothing will stop the National Assembly, especially the Senate, from performing its duties.”

The Senate president also declared a Thursday deadline for sub-committees to submit their 2017 budget reports to the House Appropriations Committee.

He further expressed disappointment at the failure of about 20 committees in submitting their report to the Appropriations committee led by Danjuma Goje.

Saraki noted that the Red Chamber will be forced to rely on the submissions from the Executive should any of the sub-committees fail to turn in their report.
