We Don’t Have An Anointed Candidate For Kogi Elections – APC

The All Progressives Congress (APC) said it has no preferred candidate for the forthcoming governorship election in Kogi state.

The party Organising Secretary who was represented by the director of administrations in the party’s headquarters, Abdullahi Yusuf Gashua, disclosed this during the presentation of the forms to one of the Kogi governorship aspirants, Alhaji Yahaya Bello (Fair Plus) in Abuja yesterday.

He said: “APC stands for change and the party has no preferred candidate and it will prepare a level playing ground for every aspirant.”

He therefore urged the aspirant to give an undertaken that he will abide and play by the rule of law in supporting any candidate that emerges.

The party officials certified that Bello paid the sum of N5.5million to the party’s bank account, hence he was qualified to obtain a nomination form and expression of interest form for N5 million and N500,000 respectively.

Gashua therefore told Bello to go and canvass for votes from the party delegates, adding that APC has no preferred candidate among the aspirants gunning for Luguard House.

He noted that mere purchase of the forms was not enough as it expected of him and supporters to conduct themselves in orderly manner with an undertaking to accept the outcome of the party primaries.

Responding, Bello said he was on a historic rescue mission to salvage the confluence state from the grip of a few cabal who have underdeveloped the state.

“Today, we are commencing an historic journey. A journey to liberate ourselves,” he said.

He promised to run a rancour-free campaign and uphold the rule of law and provisions of the party’s constitution regarding the governorship contest.

Recall that August 29, 2015 has been fixed for the primary election by the party ahead of the governorship election slated for November 21, 2015 by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
