We formulate policies, programmes on people’s demands – OYSG

The Oyo State Government says it has always put the people first in the formulation of policies and programmes of its administration.

The State Commissioner for Information, Culture and Tourism, Dr Wasiu Olatunbosun made the assertion in a statement in Ibadan on Saturday.

Olatunbosun said the Gov. Seyi Makinde-led administration always remember that the yearnings of the people were the pivot, upon which the state’s budgetary focus was placed.

According to him, the government always seeks the opinions of people across the state annually, on their needs and uses the aggregated opinions to formulate its policies and programmes.

The commissioner further stated that the cardinal programme of the present government in the state, were in the areas of agro-economic development; free health; free education; sustainable security of lives and property as well as promotion of e-commerce.

He added that these will be pursued with the interest of residents of the state.

He announced the rolling out of 10 telephone numbers to the general public for feedback and to grade the performance of the Makinde-led administration since its inception in 2019.

He said the measure was in tandem with the administration’s open governance policy to always involve residents in the affairs of governance.

The ten telephone numbers are 08177190628, 08177198874, 08177190689, 08177190654, 08177190627, 08177190605, 08177190681, 08177190678, 08177190620 and 08177190611.

“There also exists other areas through which the state government gets information in the form of feedback from our people.

“However, we are determined to move the seat and power of governance to the people the more, which necessitated the need for these telephone numbers, with which our people can relate with government,’’ the statement read in part.

Olatunbosun urged the general public to use the avenue to express their views about the performance of government.
