The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) members in the Ekiti State House of Assembly have disclosed that former Governor Ayodele Fayose directed them to co-operate with the new administration of Governor Kayode Fayemi in the interest of the state.

The Deputy Speaker, Hon. Adewumi Olusegun, made this known on behalf of the caucus in the state capital, Ado-Ekiti, on Tuesday while debunking insinuations that the PDP lawmakers had defected to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

He added that the ex-governor’s advice was premised on the foundation that no individual or political party is greater than Ekiti.

Speaking on the allegation of defecting to APC, Olusegun said, “We remain committed members of the PDP as against insinuations in some quarters that we have decamped to APC.”

He added, “We make bold to say that our support for the state governor Dr Kayode Fayemi was at the instance of the out gone Governor Ayodele Fayose who directed that we should co-operate with the governor elect then in the interest of Ekiti State.

“It was on this premise of the advice that we acted, because Ekiti agenda is bigger than any individual or political party.”
