The Oba of Benin, Oba Ewuare II, says former Head of State, Ibrahim Babangida is a “strong pillar” in Nigeria.

The revered traditional ruler stated this Saturday when he met Babangida in his hilltop residence in Minna, Niger State, as part of his nationwide tour.

Oba Ewuare II said that since leaving office, Babangida’s astute leadership qualities have continued to reflect in the way he brings Nigerians together through his reach.

“You are still a strong pillar of Nigeria. You did your best in keeping the country as one during your years in government and you are still contributing to the integration and cohesion of the country,” the Oba told Babangida.

“Please don’t be tired because your priceless contributions and advice is still needed for this country to remain together as one,” he added.

Oba Ewuare II said that he was assured that with the likes of Babangida around, Nigeria would never disintegrate.

He further urged other patriotic Nigerians to emulate the former Nigerian leader’s virtues of thinking about Nigeria and her future at all times.

The Herald can report that former Niger State Governor, Babangida Aliyu as well as prominent Nupe traditional title holders, the Makaman Nupe, Dalhatu Aliyu Makama and Galadiman Nupe, Danjuma Galadima, were also at the meeting.
