The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Adams Oshiomhole has revealed details of several personal conversations he had with Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom, who announced he had dumped the party on Monday.

Oshiomhole made the disclosure at the party secretariat on Monday while reacting to Ortom’s exit from the party.

Recall that while dumping the party, Ortom had accused the APC of giving him a “red card”.

He added that he was willing to team up with another, ideology-based political party to actualise his second-term bid.

Ortom said, “As for party, I have been given red card and I’m outside the pitch. So, if I have been given red card and I’m standing outside, I’m a free man.

“So I don’t know what will happen next but I’m waiting. If others approach me, then I will tell the Benue people that I’m joining another football club. I’m a child of destiny and it’s only God that will decide what I will be.”

Oshiomhole said that Ortom had personally told him several times in the past that he would not dump the APC unless pushed out.

However, he said that Ortom was not pushed out of the APC by himself or any member of the new National Working Committee (NWC) of the party under him.

He said, “This party will not comment on the basis of rumours and I am sure eventually we will find out the fact of the matter and base on those facts, we would act.

“I know that Ortom is a prominent member of the party. He has said repeatedly to me one on one that he will not leave the APC unless he was pushed out.

I have since assumed the chairmanship of this party along with my brothers and sisters in the national working committee and I know that we have not shut out any governor, certainly not Ortom.”
