What Osun Guber Election Shows About PDP – Fani-Kayode

Former Aviation Minister, Chief Femi Fani-Kayode has revealed what Saturday’s gubernatorial election in Osun State foretell about the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)chances in the 2019 general elections.

Fani-Kayode, an Osun indigene, made this known in a tweet via his verified Twitter handle on Sunday morning.

According to him, the Osun governorship election has shown that the PDP is “alive and well” in the state and Nigeria as a whole.

The ex-culture minister also expressed confidence in the party’s ability to field a “formidable candidate who will be elected as the next President of Nigeria”.

Former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar; Senate President, Dr Bukola Saraki; former Senate President, Sen. David Mark; Sokoto Governor, Aminu Tambuwal; former PDP Caretaker Chairman, Sen. Ahmed Makarfi, are among the leading candidates jostling for the presidential ticket of the PDP.

Fani-Kayode said, “One thing that is clear from the Osun state results no matter which way it finally goes is that the Peoples Democratic Party is alive and well in Osun state and Nigeria.

“We will field a formidable candidate for the Feb. 2019 (presidential) election who will be elected as the next President of Nigeria.”

Earlier, the PDP chieftain expressed confidence in the party’s ability to sweeps the Osun governorship polls.

He said, “Osun is looking good for the Peoples Democratic Party. Praying hard that there is no hanky panky with the results overnight”

Fani-Kayode however warned the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) against allowing itself to be used to thwart the will of the people of Osun, claiming that Adeleke has won the election even when the electoral body had not declared the winner.

He said, “The people have spoken and Osun is back in the hands of Peoples Democratic Party. If INEC rigs Osogbo and declares that APC won it will lose the little credibility that it has built up in the last 2 days. INEC must not allow themselves to be used to thwart the will of the people of Osun.”
