“We have our own Amotekun with us and we will soon unveil it”, Chairman of the South-East Governors’ Forum and Governor of Ebonyi State, Dave Umahi, has told Vice President Yemi Osinbajo.

However, he maintained that the regional security outfit that would be launched in Igbo land would conform to the constitution of Nigeria.

Umahi disclosed this on Thursday when Osinbajo visited the state capital, Abakaliki to commence the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprise Clinics for viable enterprises in the state.

He lamented the myriad security challenges confronting the five states that make up the geopolitical zone.

The governor added that the South-East security outfit would help ensure adequate protection of lives and property in the region.

“We have been challenged so much in the South-East because of security problems. I want to assure you that we are doing everything possible together with you and Mr. President to secure our people. We will not break the constitution to satisfy our people.

“We have our own Amotekun with us and we will soon unveil it within the limit of the constitution of the Federal Republic,” Umahi said.

Each state in the region has since enacted a law to back the domestication of the security outfit.
