WHO Commends Nigeria for D-8 Programme Office Donation

The World Health Organization (WHO) has lauded the Federal Government for donating an office to the Health and Social Protection (HSP) programme of the D-8 Organization for Economic Cooperation (Developing-8), to boost healthcare systems.

WHO Country Representative, Dr Kazadi Molombo Walter, made the commendation in his remark at the official inauguration of the HSP office on Thursday in Abuja.

Molombo, represented by Mr Hamzat Tayo, WHO Professional Officer, said that the donation of the office would fast track implementation of health programme initiatives among the D-8 member countries.

“We identify with this noble initiative, we commend the D-8 programme office in Nigeria and to affirm our identification with the programme office.

“We believe that this office will give you the latitude to be able to implement the health objectives and activities that had been set.

The WHO representative recalled that his organization was at the meeting held in 2019, on improving health indices and besides the fact that countries could learn from each other the concept of the health and social protection was relevant for all the D-8 countries.

“We believe that with supports from development partners and member countries putting in their own contribution, this laudable objective will be achieved.”
