Dr Tedros Ghebreyesus, WHO Director-General, made this disclosure at a media briefing on Friday.

Ghebreyesus said that the service would provide the latest news and information on COVID-19, including details on symptoms and how to protect against infection.

“The Health Alert service is now available in English and will be introduced in other languages next week.

“To access it, send the word “hi” to the following number on WhatsApp: +41 798 931 892.

“We will make this information available on our website later today,” the director-general said.

He acknowledged that COVID-19 was taking so much from the world.

Ghebreyesus, however, said that it provides the world with the opportunity to converge as one humanity to work, learn and grow together.
