Why 14-year-old Pregnant Teenager committed Suicide

Anita Haledu Ibrahim,  a 14-year-old teenager has taken her life over an unwanted pregnancy.

The 14-year-old Teenager who attends Government Science School in  Andaha, near Akwanga, Local Government Area, Nassarawa state fell pregnant during COVID-19 Lockdown.

The boyfriend took to his heels after he learnt of her pregnancy. However, he took responsibility and proposed marriage after Anita’s parents intervened in the matter,

Unfortunately, the feeling of frustration and stigmatization never left the teenager with the constant beating she suffered in the hands of her father. Haledu Ibrahim. When the frustration became unbearable, Anita took her own life by ingesting an unidentified herbicide.

Family members rushed the pregnant teenager to a hospital on Saturday where she later gave up the ghost on Tuesday.

Nansel Ramhan, Police Public Relations Officer Nassarawa state disclosed he was yet to receive an official report of the case when  The Nation contacted him.

Preparations for the burial of the deceased have commenced, The Nation reports.
