Former Sokoto State Governor, Alhaji Attahiru Bafarawa has accused the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) of being “too disorganised and reckless” to organise the 2019 general election.
Hence, he said, the much-anticipated election may not see the light of day.
The former governor, who is a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) made this known in a Wednesday statement made available to the media.
Bafarawa said that entrusting a crucial national assignment as a general election to the APC in its current state would be a dangerous gamble in view of current security situation in the country.
He noted that the APC showed its incapacity by the way it conducted its ward congresses that held nationwide recently.
The statement read in part, “If the APC and its government cannot organise a peaceful, fair and credible congresses, how can it hold a general election that will most likely bring about a change of government?
“An election is a very serious event and a party or a government which cannot deal with its internal issues cannot face the reverberations of a general election.
“The problem with the APC is greed. Those at the commanding heights of the APC administration are driven by desperation.
“They want to hold on to power at all costs.
“The result is the deadly struggle that has now manifested in the rancorous APC congresses across the country.”
