The BringBackOurGirls, BBOG, co-convener, Aisha Yesufu has claimed that the former embattled ex-chairman of the Presidential Task Force on Pension Reforms, Abdulrasheed Maina dismissal from the civil service may have been a grand plot to prepare him for 2019 governorship election.

In a tweet on her Twitter handle, the convener of the BBOG advocacy group said disengagement does not equal dismissal as Maina can still run for elective office and that when he wins, he would be entitled to “eight years immunity.”

She wrote: “Aisha Yesufu. What if what Maina wanted was a disengagement from Civil Service? Its not a dismissal and he can run for 2019 for governor and have eight years immunity.”

The former Presidential Task Force on Pension Reforms was recently indicted over diversion of public funds worth billions of naira.

Following his indictment, the embattled Pension boss had gone into hiding, with his whereabouts unknown.

However, reports had it that the Attorney-General of the Federation and Justice Minister, Abubakar Malami had directed the Federal Civil Service Commission (FCSC) to reinstate Maina, after being on the run for alleged N2b scam, among others.

Displeased by the report, President Buhari had on Monday ordered the immediate disengagement of Maina.

Giving reasons for the President’s directive, Buhari’s Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina said Maina was relieved of his duty because he left the service without permission and he ran away from the country.

The presidential spokesperson added that Maina’s action brought embarrassment on Buhari’s government.
