The senator representing Kogi West senatorial district, Sen. Dino Melaye, has said that President Muhammadu Buhari might have to return to his London doctors following his Monday directive that security agents must be “ruthless” with ballot box snatchers and election riggers.

Melaye made this known while appearing on a Channels Television programme on Tuesday evening.

The programme anchored by Seun Okin also had the Director of Strategic Communication for the Buhari campaign, Festus Keyamo, in attendance.

At the All Progressives Congress (APC) Caucus Meeting on Monday, Buhari said, “And anybody who decides to snatch ballot boxes or lead thugs to disturb it (election), maybe that would be the last unlawful action he would take.

“I have directed the Police and the military to be ruthless.”

Buhari added, “I am going to warn anybody who thinks he has enough influence in his locality to lead a body of thugs to snatch boxes or to disturb the voting system, he would do it at the expense of his own life.”

Melaye wondered how the president of a nation could be giving an order that appeared to validate and encourage extrajudicial killing of people.

Melaye said, “That statement from Mr. President is a serious confirmation that Mr. President has to visit London again, because it is not expected from any rationally thinking, intellectually mobile leader.”

Recall that Buhari was in a London for a total of 170 days treating an undisclosed ailment.
