Former President Olusegun Obasanjo berated some reporters Thursday after he was asked to assess the performance of Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun in office so far.

Obasanjo had visited the Oke Mosan, Abeokuta Government House for a closed-door meeting with the governor.

He spoke briefly with journalists after the meeting.

Asked to assess Abiodun’s performance so far, the ex-president replied, “I have not come here to do assessment; I have come here for the promotion of what will move Ogun State forward.”

Commenting on his mission in the Government Huse, Obasanjo said he visited Abiodun to officially welcome him to office, wish him Happy New Year and discuss issues bordering on the state’s development.

He added that their discussion centred on education, agriculture, and rural development.

“I have come to say ‘Happy New Year’ to the Governor and then of course, I haven’t been here since his (Abiodun) assumption of office, to welcome to his seat.

“I raised a few issues that I have believed are of interest to the development of the state in the area of education, agriculture, rural development and other sort of things. We had a wonderful discussion,” Obasanjo stated.
