Former National Chairman, All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Chief Victor Umeh has disclosed that he quit the party because some members were conspiring against him.

Umeh said this at a press conference held at the Secretariat of the Anambra Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Awka, Anambra State.

Recall that the senator dumped APGA after he was denied the APGA ticket for the Anambra Central senatorial seat in 2023.

He defected to Labour Party, whose ticket he won to compete for the same seat.

“During the last senatorial primary election, which I contested under APGA, it was glaring that some people within the party perfectly wheeled conspiracy to pull me down.

“That was why I decided to leave APGA,” Umeh said.

Umeh said joining Labour Party was on the urging of the party’s presidential candidate, Peter Obi.

He expressed delight on joining the party, saying it has reunited him with Obi.

Umeh recalled how Obi and he drove APGA to victory in Anambra, saying that the same feat was possible in 2023.

“Nigerians from all shades of opinion want Peter Obi as president in 2023 and what is happening in LP is divine.

“What is driving him are statements he makes on the management of the resources of the country.

“These truly represent his conduct on the ways public resources should be managed,” Umeh said.
