Why ‘Jo Fun Mi’ By Re-Up Nelson Is the Fall Jam You Didn’t Know you Needed

1 Min Read

Re-Up Nelson is a name most Nigerians aren’t very familiar with, but that might be about to change thanks to his new single ‘Jo fun mi’ (Dance for me)

The song features Domingo and was produced by Ghxst

The video was visually stunning with retro 80s vibes which featured good old summer living in Miami with imagery that also reminded this writer of the old days in Nigerian music with the likes of Eedris Abdulkareem and Tony Tetuila who regularly danced in front of a white background.

There was also some Nigerian pride in the video with the Nigerian flag featuring prominently in the song

Nelson’s track was silky smooth with just a hint of trap influence (Skkrrr anyone?) and is made for easy, laid-back listening.

The video was directed by Richy Guzman who also Trap Jesus by Everything Hundred and a short film called 8Hundred-Days.

Check to see if you notice the Naeto C homage
