A former Aviation Minister, Chief Femi Fani-Kayode, has mocked President Muhammadu Buhari and National Leader of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Tinubu over alleged worsening socio-economic indices  in the country under the party.

The controversial minister took to Twitter on Thursday to urge Nigerians to “clap” for both leaders.

Quoting figures circulating in the media, Fani-Kayode said, “88 million Nigerians live in extreme poverty. 1.1 million Nigerians slipped into extreeme poverty in the last 4 months. 12 million Nigerians lost their jobs in the last 3 years. Nigeria borrowed more money in the last 3 years than in the previous 50. Clap for Buhari/Tinubu.”

He added, “I forgot to add this: More Nigerians have been butchered and killed in cold blood by security forces, terrorist groups and armed militias in the last three years than at any other time in our history other than during the civil war. Again, clap for Buhari and Tinubu!”

Although Tinubu does not hold an official position in the current administration, he is considered pivotal to Buhari’s historic victory in the 2015 presidential election and remains a very influential party leader.
