Scores of women from the three senatorial districts in Ogun State have threatened to storm the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja on Saturday to protest naked if the Adams Oshiomhole-led National Working Committee (NWC) of the All Progressives Congress (APC) does not stop imposition of candidates on the state.

The women, who protested in Abeokuta on Wednesday, are demanding that Otunba Dapo Abiodun, who has been recognised by the APC national leadership as the gubernatorial candidate for 2019, be replaced by Adekunle Akinlade.

Recall that The Herald had over the weekend reported how Ogun State Governor, Ibikunle Amosun vowed to hand over to Akinlade in 2019.

The Ogun State APC Women Leader, Shade Giwa, who addressed journalists on behalf of the women, said they did not know Abiodun and described his alleged imposition as a plot to make the party lose the state in 2019.

She added that party members wholeheartedly voted for Akinlade in a primary election held on October 2 and he won but the electoral committee decided to announce Abiodun.

According to her, “The electoral committee should be warned, Oshiomhole should be warned, he should release our mandate, we give him till Friday to announce the result or else, by Saturday, we will meet him in Abuja.

“We want Nigerians to know that we, in Ogun State, are of Ogun standard and we cannot take anything apart from that.

“In the party primary recently conducted in Ogun, we voted for Akinlade, we don’t know Dapo.

“Akinlade is the one who all APC women voted for and anything apart from Akinlade is a no to us.

“We are warning the NWC led by Oshiomhole because women are going to take action if they fail to announce Akinlade as the party candidate before Friday. We are going to storm Abuja to express our displeasure and we will go naked.”
