Vice President Yemi Osinbajo has been on the road within Nigeria for a period of five months, touring the tech hubs within the nation and keeping an eye on the innovation and advancements that the sector is experiencing.
The Vice President also extended this to Silicon Valley, the biggest tech hub in the world and here he also has Nigerian tech companies in his sights as he’s taken in the situation there and how it can benefit the country’s nascent tech industry.
The visit could be a huge boost to the nation’s tech hub as the Vice President aims to key into Google’s Next Billion Users plan
The idea is to diversify the economy by making technology an enabler for forex revenue earnings and Google’s Next Billion users plan is intended to ensure greater digital access in Nigeria and around the world.
Osinbajo’s delegation also included the heads of tech startups who got the chance to pitch their ideas to their foreign counterparts with the view of possible collaborative efforts.
The Vice President was welcomed by Google CEO Sundar Pichai at Googleplex, the corporate headquarters of Google and its parent company Alphabet Inc., located in California, United States.

Also, Nigeria as a country is believed to have the potential to be a large part of the next Billion users of the internet who according to Google, hold the future of the internet.
In view of this, Google is set to increase the number of Nigerians in the global technology firm’s Launchpad Accelerator, and Google I/O Developer Festivals.
Also the tech behemoth is also offering to train Nigerians on Android and Web Development, Digital Marketing and Taking Business Online.
