Lere Olayinka, Senior Special Adviser on Public Communications and Social Media to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has responded to recent criticisms of his principal by former presidential aide, Babafemi Ojudu, accusing him of political hypocrisy and historical misconduct.
In a strongly worded statement issued on Sunday, Olayinka defended Wike’s political track record and took a swipe at Ojudu’s past, claiming the former presidential adviser deceived ex-President Olusegun Obasanjo into orchestrating the illegal impeachment of a sitting governor in Ekiti State.

The statement follows comments attributed to Ojudu, who described Wike as a politician who behaves “as though power is eternal, as if position confers immortality.” Ojudu had recently admitted to scripting the controversial removal of former Ekiti governor Ayodele Fayose, an act he said was backed by Obasanjo.
Olayinka dismissed Ojudu’s remarks as the outburst of a disgruntled politician still reeling from the fallout of the 2022 APC presidential primaries, where his preferred aspirant lost. He accused Ojudu of losing political relevance and questioned his moral authority to lecture others on the impermanence of power.
“Egbon Femi Ojudu is pained, no doubt, but shouldn’t he limit his frustration to his ‘I too know’ mindset that made him miscalculate on the 2023 presidential election?” Olayinka asked. “Funny that someone who led a political coup in Ekiti is now sermonizing about the fleeting nature of power.”
Taking further jabs, Olayinka mocked Ojudu’s public promise to take up farming, saying, “Is he now in the farm cultivating cocoyam and ewedu vegetable as he promised in 2022?”
He concluded by asserting that Wike’s political accomplishments far surpass those of Ojudu, saying, “Wike is not like Egbon Femi Ojudu, whose only major political achievement is deceiving President Obasanjo to illegally remove a democratically elected governor of Ekiti State.”
