‘I will consider marriage after Mikel Obi, Obinna Nsofor and other Super Eagles’ – Emenike

Super Eagles forward Emmanuel Emenike has confessed that marriage is not in his immediate plans. The pro footballer opened up on his relationship outlook and other personal issues in a recent interview.

Emenike said, “Before you think about going into marriage, I think there must be a cordial relationship with a girl, abi? I am not thinking about that for now because I am just not ready. Maybe when the likes of Mikel Obi, Chinedu Obasi, Obinna Nsofor and more players in the Super Eagles get married and I attend their weddings, then I can start planning my own, but for now, it is not in my plan.

“In the area of relationship, which l also think should come first before marriage, I need to make myself clear: I am still single and searching. I can say l am searching for the lucky girl who would be ready to tolerate me. Marriage is an everlasting match and I don’t want to rush into it. My mother and father are still together despite their old ages; and they have been living for years and that tells you the kind of woman I want. My mother is the only wife my father has and they are like friends and are living like a sister and brother till now. I want a woman like my mother and would be happier if she is even more tolerant than my mother. So when I am ready, I will search for the right person.”

“I am a kind person that always like to see people around me; I am very friendly. That you see girls around me does not mean I’m in any relationship. As a matter of fact, I don’t have any relationship. I only have cordial friendships but marriage is not yet on the card because I’m still on the fast lane (laughter). I am still a bachelor, so I am free but once I’m married, all gates are closed.”

Emenike said his dream girl would have the same qualities and virtues as his mother.

His words: “I have said it before that I want a woman like my mother. My mother is very contented with my father; she’s very loyal and accommodating. She loves making people happy. For a marriage to be successful in this life, I think 90 percent of the efforts must come from the woman. If I see a woman like that for now, I will go straight to the altar but most girls today are after what you have. Money is vanity; though it makes marriage blossom, it does not build a happy home. The truth is that out of 100, it is only 10 that know the definition of a happy marriage and I don’t want a situation whereby I will regret what I have done. I am really taking my time to think about it well. As for those linking me with some actresses in Nigeria, l want to say that they are only rumours. I am not in any relationship with any of them.”

“I will marry a Nigerian that would relate with my parents and family in the easiest way. There are beautiful girls in Nigeria but marriage is not about beauty. You may decide to take fine girls to club but the biggest mistake is to be looking for a beautiful woman to marry.

“It is her beauty that will cut your life short. Look at the likes of Nwankwo Kanu and Austin Jay Jay Okocha, they made money in Europe and returned home to marry; I think that makes sense, but I am not against marrying foreigners because at times, they are even better than our girls in some aspects. I like Nigerian girls and I will eventually marry one.”
