The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Taraba State has said that it is still confident of reclaiming its governorship mandate from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP)

According to the state chairman of the‎ party, Hassan Jika, the party remains very hopeful of overturning the Appeal Court judgment at the Supreme Court.

He said they will not rest “until we claim the mandate given to Senator Aisha Jummai Alhassan by people of the state”.

He added that the Appeal Court ruling is just a minor set back.

“We believe in the rule of law. The issue is all about the law and we are still confident that we will be given back our mandate to serve the people of Taraba State. Our candidate has faith in the ability of the courts to do justice and you know our party, the APC always respects the law no matter the situation, “he said.

Jika maintained that the leadership as well as all members ‎of the APC in Taraba State are solidly behind Senator Alhassan and that they will continue to seek for justice.

He further called on the people of Taraba State and all party supporters to remain peaceful and avoid anything that may breach peace anywhere in the state.

The tribunal had declared Senator Alhassan the duly elected governor of the state on the basis that the PDP did not conduct primaries.

The tribunal maintained that following the development, all votes secured by the governor, were considered wasted.

Though the Appeal Court quashed that ruling and declared Darius Ishaku as duly elected governor of the state, the APC Candidate, Aisha Alhassan is currently at the Supreme Court, seeking Nullification of the election.
