I’ll Do This If Abuja Airport Repair Extends Beyond Six Weeks – Minister of state for Aviation, Hadi Sirika

Following the closure of the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport for repairs some weeks ago, the Minister of State for Aviation, Hadi Sirika, has assured that the closure will not exceed the six weeks which was earlier planed.

Recall that the closure of the airport since February had led to the use of the Kaduna International airport which the president, Muhammadu Buhari, landed in after his 51 days medical leave in the United Kingdom.

Debunking rumors that the Federal Government is planning to extend the repair works from six weeks to eighteen weeks, the Minister vowed to resign should repair works not be completed at the end of the six weeks.

He said while addressing newsmen alongside Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohamed in Lagos yesterday: “I am very comfortable that we will be able to meet the targeted six weeks. We have a guarantee that it will be done. I will resign if the closure of the runway goes beyond six weeks. My reputation is at stake.”
