Woman drags Debtor to court over N35,000 debt

A 30 year- old- woman, Aisha Adamu, on Wednesday, prayed a Shari’a Court sitting at Rigasa, Kaduna to assist her recover N35,000 from one Aliyu Umar, a phone seller.

The complainant, who resides at Rigasa area of Kaduna, told the court that she had given the defendant the money in order to get her husband a lawyer, who was in police custody.

“It is now six months since I gave him the money, but I have not seen a lawyer and my husband is still in prison custody,” she said.

In his defence, the defendant, who resides at Bashama road, Tudun Wada area, told the court that he had given the money to the lawyer and the lawyer had met with the complainant’s father.

The judge, Mallam Dahiru Bamalli, ordered the complainant’s father, Baba Rabo to present himself in court, which he did.

However, Rabo told the court that he only met the supposed lawyer today; on Wednesday  and he told him to come and present himself in court.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the lawyer was not in court and the defendant could not mention his name in court.

The judge, therefore, ordered the defendant to pay the N35,000 and be remanded in prison custody until Friday.
