Some people really do love their pets. This was the situation for a woman who spent a whopping £4000 ( N1,872,480) on a funeral for her Bull Terrier, Captain.
Sasha Smajic, 37, was adamant that she’d give Captain, who was aged 11, a befitting burial.
According to Metro UK, Captain died of a heart attack while on the operating table on Christmas day.
Due to the trauma of the dog’s death, Smajic claimed that she did not eat for an entire week, she also claimed that she would never celebrate Christmas again.
“I don’t think I’ll ever celebrate another Christmas. I don’t think I would ever have the strength to do that. A piece of me has gone.” she said while mourning Captain.

Captain was given a fitting burial, complete with a dove release (11 doves, each marking a year of his life) and his name written in flowers.
After the funeral, Smajic went to a local pub and had a plate of chicken and chips put on the table in honour of her canine friend.
“Captain deserved a special send off. For some people he was a dog, to me he was my baby – he was everything to me and always will be.” she said.
