Ogun State arm of the Nigerian Police has apprehended a 47-year old full housewife who supposedly flogged her husband’s nephew to the death. The suspect had accused the 11-year-old victim of stealing her N6,500.
Police officers later arrested her after the boy’s biological mother, Ijeoma Egeonu, approached the Agbado Divisional Headquarters to report the incident.
She narrated that her son had been staying with her older brother at Opeilu in Agbado for some time but Joy, who is his housewife, alleged that he stole her money February 3rd and because of that, she began to flog the boy on until he gave up the ghost. Egeonu further explained that Joy took the 11-year old’s body to Ifo area and quickly buried him.
Following her reports, police officers apprehended the suspect who later confessed that the bot died on their way to the hospital and her husband has since told her that he was the one who actually took the money.
After the discoveries, Ogun State’s police commissioner, Ahmed Iliyasu, had directed that the case should be moved to the homicide division of the State Criminal Investigation and intelligence department.
He also demanded that the victim’s uncle should be arrested as he joined his wife I burying the young boy.
