Lionel Messi might be the greatest footballer in the world, but the Barcelona superstar met his match on the pitch in the shape of a robot-controlled goalkeeper.

The Argentine forward went head-to-head with a rather fierce-looking cardboard cutout, and was thwarted twice in succession by the incredible reactions of the Japanese creation – firstly low to the left and then secondly high to the right.

Messi did get his revenge however, smashing home his third effort before firing in a stunning extra spot-kick at 132 KM/H.
