American business magazine Forbes is one of the best-known authorities in personal-worth rankings. It has been rating the earnings of billionaires, sport stars and entertainers for decades.

The magazine recently released the 2017 list of 25 highest-paid musicians in the world. As usual, the list is dominated by American musicians. To arrive at the list, Forbes considered pretax income from June 1, 2016 to June 1, 2017 and did not take out fees charged by agents, managers and lawyers. It gathered data from Nielsen SoundScan, Pollstar, the RIAA and conducted interviews with leading industry insiders.
