The world’s shortest man, Nepalese Chandra Bahadur Dangi is dead.

The 75-year-old weaver from Kathmandu was undergoing treatment for an undisclosed ailment at the Lyndon B. Johnson Tropical Medical Center in Pago Pago, American Samoa when he lost his life, hospital sources revealed on Friday.

According to the Guinness Book of World Records, Dangi’s last recorded height was 21.5 inches (54.6 cm), a record 5 cm (2 in) shorter than the previous shortest living man, Junrey Balawing from the Philippines who stood at 59.9 cm (1 ft 11.5 in, or 23.5 in).

He was more than 7 ft shorter than world’s tallest man, Turkey’s Sultan Kösen, who stands at a staggering 8 ft 3 in.
