Another suicide has been reported and this is coming from Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH) where a 500-Level student, Adesoji Adediran has reportedly taken his own life for yet unknown reasons.

Adediran was until his death a final year student at the Urban and Regional Planning Department of the school located in Ogbomosho, Oyo state.

The roommates of the deceased reportedly returned from a night study session to find Adediran’s body hanging from a ceiling fan early on Saturday.

The school management, said to have been alerted, informed policemen from the Owode division, who removed the remains.

A classmate said “He has two roommates. The roommates went for a night study on Friday. When they returned to the room on Saturday, they discovered that he had hanged himself with a cable. Nobody has an idea why he killed himself.”

Oyo State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Ajisebutu Adekunle, while confirming the incident, said, “The deceased committed suicide by hanging himself on the ceiling fan. He didn’t leave any suicide note. The case is under investigation. Meanwhile, the corpse has been deposited at LAUTECH morgue for autopsy.”

Punch, however, reports that when an official of the school was contacted, he said the school management was unaware of any such incident.

The reports of Adediran’s death comes at a time more Nigerians are discussing awareness about depression after a medical doctor reportedly jumped to his death from the third mainland bridge in Lagos on Sunday.

Recently, another Nigerian was found dead just hours after he was mocked on social media for admitting that he was suffering from depression.
