President Muhammadu Buhari has warned his media aides against instigating or promoting any personal attacks on former President Olusegun Obasanjo.

Recall that the former president last week released a 13-page ‘special press statement’ in which he accused Buhari of incompetence and warned him against seeking reelection in 2019.

However, Buhari specifically warned his aides against joining issues with the octogenarian, Premium Times reported, quoted an undisclosed presidential source.

The source reportedly said that all the aides were being careful not to engage President Obasanjo “negatively” in order not to violate the president’s express instruction.

The source further disclosed that the Minister of Communications, Adebayo Shittu, was “on his own” when he decided to attack the former president on Monday.

Addressing State House correspondents on Monday, Shittu had accused Obasanjo of enjoying “sensationalism”.

He also said that Obasanjo had never seen anything good in any other administration but his own in the last 30 years.
