Your Plan to Impose a Proxy President will Not Work - Oshiomole Blasts Obasanjo

The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Mr. Adams Oshiomole has accused former President, Olusegun Obasanjo and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) of trying to impose a proxy President on Nigerians saying never again would Nigeria be ruled by opportunists.

Strike: Federal Government to Meet with ASUU Today

Oshiomole said attempts being made by Obasanjo to impose a proxy president on the country in 2019 would never see the light of the day before a rally held at the Sani Abacha stadium to welcome defectors from the PDP as well as the Kwankwasiyya Movement to the APC.

Oshiomole boasted at the rally that Nigerians would vote en-masse for President Buhari with or without the support of former President Obasanjo.

He said further that the APC never promised to turn Nigeria Around in four years, pointing out that what the PDP destroyed in 16 years could never be fixed in three and a half years.

Oshiomole said;

“Today, those who through a single telephone would make billions of Naira have regrouped when they ran to Port Harcourt. They have forgotten that what they destroyed in the last 16 years could not be fixed in just three and a half years.

Today, our opponents in the PDP are crying even before the elections proper. They wrote a letter of complaint to the United Nations  I wonder who will carry the letter for them, forgetting that it was them, who introduced a do or die affair politics during Obasanjo’s tenure. Buhari is highly respected across the globe, so he is bigger than rigging the elections”.

Never again will this country be governed by opportunists, who have in the last 16 years wasted the nation’s treasury.”

The former Governor of Kano state who was present at the rally, Mallam Ibrahim Shekarau expressed optimism that the APC would record a landslide victory in 2019.

The state Governor, Dr Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, also stressed that nothing would stop the APC from getting five million votes for Buhari in Kano state.

Shekarau, said he and his supporters were happy to return to the APC, predicting that the general elections would be a total victory for the party;

“It is appropriate for me to say that it is a great day for me to address a mammoth crowd of supporters of the APC. I am happy that history is now repeating itself, noting that it would be recalled that sometime in 2014, he dumped the party but now back to the party.

I have great honour today,, as we left the party in 2014, with reasons, as we decided to step aside and now we have resolved to move back to APC. I am now proud to be a member of APC and promise total commitment to the party.

Come 2019, we would join all patriotic members of the party to work tirelessly for the victory of the party.”
