You’re misinformed – Kwankwaso fires back at Buhari’s funds diversion comment

Immediate-past Kano Governor, Sen. Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso has hit back at comments by President Muhammadu Buhari which suggested that he (Kwankwaso) diverted funds meant to complete infrastructural projects in Kano State.

While addressing the Nigerian community in France earlier in the month, Buhari praised incumbent Governor, Alhaji Umar Abdullahi Ganduje for completing the projects.

He said, “I compliment the governor for doing so much. He invited me, I went to Kano, the good projects started by Kwankwaso in education and healthcare, which is [where] a lot of emphasis should be made for ordinary Nigerians, the majority, poor Nigerians, Ganduje completed them.

“If it were another person, he could have left them to show them this is the project he started, he diverted the balance to go and contest for presidency, instead of completing it.”

Many people have interpreted the president’s comment to mean he was referring to Kwankwaso, who contested for the presidential ticket of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and lost to Alhaji Atiku Abubakar.

However, Kwankwaso, who presently represents Kano Central senatorial district, has hit back at the president’s comment.

According to TheCable, Kwankwaso rejected the president’s comments in an interview on Aminchi FM, a Kano-based radio station.

He said the projects completed by Ganduje were left behind by the administration of ex-Governor Ibrahim Shekarau, who recently joined the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Kwankwaso said, “The president was misinformed, he has no idea about what is going on in Kano.

“There is no project left behind by me that was completed by Ganduje. What he completed are the former Governor Shekarau’s uncompleted projects, not mine.

“I instructed my supporters not to react to that as there was no need because those informing the president lied to him.”
