Deontay Wilder who is likely to be Anthony Joshua’s next opponent has started the trash talking game, stating that Joshua who is Nigerian and identifies with his Nigerian roots, isn’t African and he’s just from the UK
Wilder, 32, has held the WBC heavyweight title since 2015, and in doing so became the first American world heavyweight champion in nine years, which was the longest period of time in boxing history without an American heavyweight champion.
He also boasts an impressive record with 98% of his wins coming via knockout.
He called out Anthony Joshua who also posted an impressive victory against Joseph Parker which gave him his fourth world title. He said Joshua is not African. He took to Twitter to say this, posting; “Take AFRICA off your Arm. They’re warriors. You from UK brotha,”
This is in reference to a Tattoo which Joshua has on his arm which is a map of Africa.
Wilder also said that he believes that the judges got it wrong in the fight against Joshua also saying on Twitter; “What a robbery… WOW‼️ @joeboxerparker great job Bro omg don’t apologize you did nothing wrong. True champion. @anthonyfjoshua, I ACCEPTED 100% ,”
Joshua will now be looking to win another fight with Wilder to further cement himself as boxing legend.
