The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) has unveiled Operation Eagle Eye, to enhance response and disaster risk management in Borno.

Mr Abdulkadir Ibrahim, NEMA’s Information Officer, North-East Zonal Office, said the Zonal Coordinator, Mr Bashir Garga, made the disclosure while inaugurating the exercise in Maiduguri on Tuesday.

Garga, who made the disclosure in a statement, said the exercise was inaugurated in partnership with stakeholders on Monday in Maiduguri.

He explained that the exercise was a routine annual event organised by the agency in collaboration with other relevant stakeholders, as part of preparedness and disaster risk reduction activities to ensure effective response during the Yuletide.

Garga disclosed that the agency had also sensitised Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) and host communities on safety and fire prevention tips to guard against fire incidents during the harmattan.

The coordinator called on motorists in the North-East to be vigilant and observe traffic rules to avoid accidents during the festivities.

While wishing Christians a peaceful celebration, he called on the people in Borno and Yobe to report suspicious individuals and movements to the security agencies to prevent attacks. (NAN)
