Zamfara Chief Gains Freedom From Kidnappers, Son Still Held Captive

Hassan Mohammed, the District Head of Gayari town in Gummi Local Government Area of Zamfara State, who was kidnapped alongside his son, Yasir Mohammed, has been released by his abductors but unfortunately, his son still remains in the custody of the kidnappers.

 

The PUNCH gathered from a family member that the kidnappers took a ransom of N5m from the family members as against the N40m which they had initially demanded in other to release both father and son.

 

They however further asked for two motorcycles from them in other for Yasir to gain his freedom.

 

Gayari lamented,

 

“When the N5m was handed over to them, they only released the District Head, Hassan Mohammed, and refused to release his son, Yasir Hassan, saying that we must give them two motorcycles this time.”

Recall that The Herald reported that the Gayari District Head of Gummi Local Government Area in Zamfara State, Alhaji Hassan Mohammed and his son, were both kidnapped by bandits.

 

Alhaji Hassan Mohammed, who was in his home with his two sons on Thursday night, was attacked by heavily armed men before being kidnapped.

 

Sources disclosed that the armed men arrived at Gayari town and headed straight to the District Head’s house, shooting heavily in the air while scaring neighbours who tried to rescue the victims.

 

According to a source, Malam Abubakar Sani, who spoke to The PUNCH, the kidnappers initially kidnapped the head and his two children, however, one of the children fell off from the motorcycle and ran back home.
